Need A Ride?
MHS understands that getting to and from your doctor visits can be difficult. That is why we provide free pick-up and drop-off services for your appointments.
Make sure to schedule your doctor visit before you schedule a ride. Our ride service might call your doctor’s office to confirm your appointment time. You can only schedule a ride for a medical appointment that is covered by Indiana Medicaid, or for renewing your Hoosier Healthwise coverage.
To schedule your ride, call Member Services at (877) 647-4848 at least two business days before your doctor’s visit. Ride scheduling is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST.
For example:
- If you have a doctor’s appointment on Thursday, you must call to schedule your free ride before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
- If you have a doctor’s appointment on Monday, you must call to schedule your free ride before 4 p.m. on the Thursday before the visit
To cancel or re-schedule your ride, please call as soon as possible.
Call immediately if you need to schedule a ride for urgent care. Be aware it could take some time for your ride to arrive.
NOTICE: If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number, DO NOT attempt to set up a free ride.
You should have the following information ready when you call to schedule a ride:
- Your child’s or your Hoosier Healthwise card
- Your address and phone number
- The date and time of your appointment
- The name, address, and phone number of the office or clinic
- The number of people who will be riding (patient and parent or guardian only)*
You will also need to know whether:
- You need a wheelchair-accessible van
- You need assistance to and from the door
- You need a booster seat (our ride service will not provide car seats)
*Other passengers must be approved in advance. Children under age 16 must ride with an adult age 21 years or older.
When calling to be picked up from your appointment, please remember that:
- It may take from 15 to 60 minutes for a car to arrive after your call
- Transportation can take you to a pharmacy on the way home from a doctor visit
- You should be ready to leave when your ride arrives
- Transportation will pick you up at the same place they dropped you off
- They cannot pick up multiple family members at different locations
