Health Check Health Day at Heart City Health Center, Elkhart, IN, Monday, September 28th, 2009

Oct. 19, 2009 | Author: MHS | No Comments »

MHS members arrived for their pre-scheduled well-child check-ups and health education on September 28, 2009. Health Check Health Days are designed for MHS members to receive their routine check-ups. MHS works with the doctor to set aside time just for MHS patients. Then, MHS will send out a patient letter and a follow up phone call to those members that are due for a check-up.

The Members in attendance on Monday were very grateful for the chance to get their children in to the Doctor for their well-child check-ups. They were unaware that MHS provided this special service and were excited their children’s health plan was being pro-active.

New Indiana Medicaid Initiative: Notification of Pregnancy (NOP)

Sep. 17, 2009 | Author: MHS | No Comments »

Indiana Medicaid launched a new initiative in Summer 2009 called Notification of Pregnancy (NOP). It is designed to identify risk factors in the earliest stages of pregnancy for women enrolled in Hoosier Healthwise and women participating in the Presumptive Eligibility (PE) program.

From Bulletin BT200914:

The Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) data shows that some low-income pregnant women do not seek prenatal services in the earliest stages of pregnancy, which often leads to untreated health risks. The OMPP Neonatal Quality Committee, made up of Indiana health professionals, has identified this as a focus area for prenatal care. This bulletin introduces the implementation of the Notification of Pregnancy (NOP) form, a committee initiative. It is the goal of this initiative to improve the identification of health-risk factors of expectant mothers as early as the first trimester of pregnancy.

Read the full bulletin

Recognized providers for NOP will be eligible for reimbursement of $60 for successful submission of the NOP form using Web interChange. NOP reimbursement will only be available for pregnant women enrolled with a Hoosier Healthwise managed care organization.

We have posted more information about NOP on our provider guides page, including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and Indiana Medicaid Bulletins.
