Managed Health Services, Bloomington-area partners team up to present Health and Wealth Expo on June 6

One of the state’s largest healthcare plan providers is partnering with several area businesses and organizations to stage a communitywide health expo in June that will offer free health screenings, food, fun and more for Bloomington-area residents.

Presented by Managed Health Services with the Bloomington Housing Authority and sponsored by Bloomington Hospital, the Health and Wealth Expo runs from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Crestmont Community, located at 1000 Monroe Street in Bloomington.

This is an outdoor event; in case of inclement weather on June 6, the Health and Wealth Expo will be moved to June 13.

Healthcare professionals will conduct free cholesterol, glucose, lead and blood pressure screenings. Free food and lots of activities for children, including a bounce house, will be provided. And a limited number of free bicycle helmets for children will be distributed.

WorkOne representatives will also be available at the event to help area residents with resume development and provide helpful information regarding employment interviews.

Free transportation to and from the Health and Wealth Expo is available for residents of Walnut Woods by calling (812) 339-3491, Ext. 132. Managed Health Services members living in and around Bloomington can also arrange for free transportation to the event by calling (877) 647-4848.

The Health and Wealth Expo is also made possible by the support of Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington, the Monroe County Health Department, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, My Sister’s Closet, Indiana University Continuing Studies, Community Action-People Helping People, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington, Asset Building Coalition, Shalom Community Center, Improving Kids’ Environment, the city of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, ExperienceWorks, WonderLab and the American Lung Association.
